DR. GARY AUMILLER has emerged as a leader in the field of police and motivational psychology. He has presented papers in all the major associations in psychology, has written over sixty articles on a variety of topics that have been published in both civilian and police publications, has appeared on over seventy talk shows as a police psychologist and has written a book called Keeping It Simple: Sorting Out What Really Matters In Your Life, which was released to bookstores in September, 1995. He serves as an officer of the International Association of the Chiefs of Police -- Psychology Section and is one of 37 diplomates recognized by the Society of Police and Criminal Psychology.
Dr. Aumiller has presented to both police departments as well as corporations. Dr. Aumiller's motivational talks and seminars have been described as entertaining, funny, insightful, and informative. Audiences have described Dr. Aumiller's presentations as a cross between an inspirational play and a college lecture. He has spoken at corporations, colleges and police academies across the country, and is a regular guest lecturer at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He co-directs a counseling service for law enforcement officers on Long Island. He also covers the New York and Boston areas for the United States Postal Department when there are shootings or other critical incidents that require employee debriefings.
Outside the field of psychology, Dr. Aumiller has acted as a consultant on two police movies, and even played a leading role of a serial killer in a movie by Columbia Pictures movie called "Murdered Innocence," for which he won a best supporting actor award in a national film festival. Earlier this year his first screenplay was produced called "Disco! The Final Dance," for release in 1998. Prior to his police psychology career, Dr. Aumiller performed as a stage actor in professional stage and theatrical touring companies, and performed in opera companies in three major cities. His theatrical background shines through in his presentations to make them interesting and entertaining.
Dr. Aumiller lives in East Northport, New York. He co-directs a clinic in Hauppauge, New York, that serves the Long Island Police Community.
